The Super Eagles of Nigeria held a 1-1 draw at home by DR Congo on Monday, in their fist 2018 FIFA World Cup preparation.
At home in Port Harcourt, the Supers Eagles first scored within 15 minutes, thanks to William Troost-Ekong, defender of the Turkish club Bursaspor.
Congolese TP Mazembe striker Ben Malango Ngita equalized for the Leopards in the 78th minute.
Coach of the Super eagles, Gernot Rohr, said the final result was not the most decisive factor in the match.
‘‘We saw the young players, they did very well. We scored a beautiful goal. We could have scored a second and at the end it was a penalty. We didn’t win the game but it was an interesting test for everyone’‘, Rohr said.
Key Super Eagles players like captain Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo, were rested by Gernot Rohr for the encounter.
The Super Eagles will face Croatia, Iceland and Lionel Messi’s Argentina in Group D in Russia.
